Not a day seems to go by without there being something in the press about Meghan Markle, and I’m sure it’s only going to continue as the Royal wedding draws closer.

One of the interesting bits of press the other day was all about Meghan’s influence on fashion, and there were some pretty powerful stories in there, including this one:

One day late last year, Canadian fashion company Mackage realised that their entire stock of maxi coats had sold out in under 24 hours.

The coats weren’t cheap either – £750 a pop.

How had they sold so many?

Simple: “Princess” Meghan had been seen wearing one.

It’s not just maxi coats either. It’s pretty much everything. Handbags, blouses, shoes, you name it, whatever Meghan touches turns to sold.

And that – quite simply – is the power of celebrity, and if you’ve never harnessed the power of celebrity or used people of influence in your marketing, then maybe it’s time to consider it.
