MY TO DO LIST
From the desk of Mark Creaser
Meriden, May 2019
I’ve got a list of things to do.
Things that must be done. I’m not the only one. Not the only crazy fool keeping lists. You’ve got one too, we all have.
Whether you keep yours in some cutting edge app on your phone, or in a trusted notebook or just scribbled on a series of dog-eared Post It notes - you’ve got a list.
Mine is a work in progress. Most days I add more stuff to my list than I take off it.
THERE’S A SIMPLE, SCIENTIFIC EXPLANATION FOR THIS, AND I’LL HAPPILY EXPLAIN IT TO YOU...
It’s MUCH easier to think of something that needs to be done than it is to actually do it.
A half-way house is to record the thought. To write it down someplace, that way, it almost feels like you’ve made some progress with the task.
You haven’t, of course. But it’s easy to fool ourselves into feeling productive.
The ultimate to-do list buzz is to decant one list into another. To take a pile of paper scraps and envelope backs and spend some time sorting your to do list.
Maybe you’ll move it into a new notebook and use your neatest handwriting. Maybe you’ll try Trello or Evernote.
Doesn’t it feel productive, this sorting out of tasks?
I’m not preaching from up high here. This isn’t some holier than thou sermon.
I’m not going to share my top 12 tips and tricks for getting stuff done, or the 8 productivity secrets of the super successful.
THAT’S THE SORT OF THING THAT YOU’LL FIND YOURSELF READING WHEN YOU SHOULD BE DOING STUFF.
When you’re procrastinating. Doing anything other than the stuff that you should be doing.
Read those articles on your own time. They all say the same things anyway.
[SPOILER ALERT: get up earlier, don’t multi-task, and divide your day into 20 minute chunks]
I’m not here I’m going to share my magical productivity hacks with you, I wake up late, try to do 3 or 4 things at once and love nothing more than a long meeting, as long as there are comfortable chairs and chocolate biscuits.
I’ve only got one piece of advice for you. But it’s a really good one.
This piece of advice knocks ‘wake up earlier’ into a cocked hat.
And it’s proven. I’ve been doing it for years, and it really works.
Here’s what I do:
I find someone else to do the work for me.
It’s what I do. I’ve got a great team, and it’s a good job too, because without them, not much would get done.
As well as just being too damn good at procrastination, one of the things that holds most of us back from making rapid progress on our to-do lists is simple…
...we don’t know how to do everything on there.
Some stuff is complicated. We need to look stuff up, watch a couple of how to videos on YouTube, but then we get caught up watching videos of other people doing stuff, and then suddenly it’s time for bed.
Finding other people who can make stuff happen is the key.
I had a problem with my DKIM records the other day. It would have taken me all day to fix it because I don’t know what a DKIM record is or where we keep ours, so I simply asked someone that would know what they were doing to fix or for me.
Et voila, problem solved, task ticked off.
The problem is trusting someone enough to let them within a country mile of your task list, because sorting the fallout from some clueless Colins’ efforts to get your work done is going to take longer than actually doing the work yourself, and a LOT longer than not doing the work at all.
Again, I’ve rolled a couple of sixes. we’ve got a broad range of skills on the team, so we’ve got serious capability to get stuff done.
And now you have too, because I’m offering to give you access to one of our team to finally get some of your to-do list ticked off.
I’m NOT talking about tidying out the garage, or finally putting that shelf up. You’re on your own for that sort of thing.
Our team is all about sales and marketing, so that’s where we’ll be focussing our efforts.
We’re specialists in everything marketing, whether it’s writing sales letters and follow up campaigns, list building and email marketing, lead magnets and referral programs or even creating fantastic videos.
Just like me with my DKIM records, chances are that marketing isn’t your specialist subject. You know you should have a lead magnet and a follow up campaign, but because you don’t know where to start, it never gets done.
Now’s your chance to put that right.
DUST OFF THE STUFF AT THE BOTTOM OF YOUR LIST, TAKE A GOOD LOOK AT IT. ASK YOURSELF A COUPLE OF QUESTIONS:
#1 - Is it really important? Would it benefit your business? How much might it be worth to you over 12 months?
If it’s not important, strike it from the list.
If it’s staying, ask yourself question two.
#2 - Are you ever going to get round to doing it? What’s the value of the sales you’re missing out on while the task isn’t getting done?
Be honest with yourself.
I’ve worked with a lot of business owners over the last 10 years, and they have no shortage of ideas, the stumbling block is always making stuff happen.
That’s where I’m offering to help.
There’s one guy on our team who’s got an extraordinary spectrum of skills, he’s a fantastic copywriter, he’s got a great eye for graphic design, he can build websites, he’s an experienced marketer - you name it, he can do it. And he can do it fast.
We’ve worked together for a few years now, and he’s very often the guy I turn to when I need to get something done.
Chances are you’ll know who I’m talking about - Nick Fisher.
I trust Nick to make stuff happen. To get the copy written, to get the emails sent, to get our monthly magazine designed and off to print.
He doesn’t let me down.
WHEN I TELL YOU THAT MY ONE PIECE OF ADVICE ON MAKING STUFF HAPPEN IS TO GET SOMEONE ELSE TO DO IT FOR YOU, NICK’S MY GUY.
But he can be your guy too.
Last year he launched a newsletter business, but that’s been designed so it doesn’t eat up much of his time, and with a great Operations Manager in place, Nick’s time is largely free.
That’s why Nick’s offering his services as a ‘done for you’ marketer to a handful of business owners who could use some help.
WE’RE CALLING IT THE “90 DAY CHALLENGE”. YOU’LL WORK WITH NICK FOR 3 MONTHS AND GET ALL THE STUFF ON YOUR TO DO LIST TICKED OFF BY THE END OF THE SUMMER.
Whether it’s a follow up sequence that you’ve been meaning to write for ages but not known where to start, or a lead magnet that you know would generate a ton more leads, or even a super-compelling sales letter that you’d like to mail to your dream customers, Nick can help.
This isn’t an ongoing service, because that wouldn’t work.
Think about how much more you get done the day before you go on holiday; that’s the power of a deadline, and that’s why working with Nick isn’t an open-ended offer, but is a 90-day challenge.
Without the deadline, your important stuff never becomes urgent enough to get to the top of your list. With a deadline, your mind will be more focussed, and with Nick on your team you’ll make the kind of headway into your tasklist that you wouldn’t have dared dream about before.
Working with Nick is straightforward, but it isn’t for everyone. Good news really, because he’s only got capacity to work with a small number of business owners.
There is an investment required, of £1800+VAT.
Any cost would reduce the field, but a 4-figure number like that will put many off - even though it’s a small price to pay for 3 whole months of intensive one-on-one support from a marketer of Nick’s calibre.
If you’re still reading, good.
You’re smart enough to realise how paltry the investment is compared to the return you might generate if one or two of your long-standing tasks were ticked off.
If you prefer to spread your investment, then you can pay monthly in advance, with three payments of £675+VAT, which will increase your overall investment slightly, but perhaps ease your cashflow.
If cashflow is super-tight, though, this might not be the investment for you. Nick is a talented marketer, but he’s no magician. Throwing your last fistful of cash in his direction is not a recipe for success.
What you will get from Nick is complete and utter committment to helping you focus on the important stuff, rather than the urgent stuff, for 90 productive days.
You’ll kick off with a face-to-face meeting so he can understand your business properly, and agree a list of key objectives for the 90 days - then he’ll help you to make them happen.
If you’re constantly fighting fires in your business, always dealing with stuff that’s urgent right now and never finding time to get the stuff done that’s important for your long-term success, then just having Nick keeping your focussed for 3 months might be valuable in itself, but we’re offering much more than that.
NICK’S GOING TO BE PART OF YOUR TEAM.
HE’S GOING TO WRITE THE EMAILS FOR YOU, HE’LL DESIGN THE FLYER, HE’LL PULL THE LEAD MAGNET TOGETHER.
HE’LL WRITE THE SCRIPT FOR THE VIDEO, FIND SOMEONE TO SHOOT IT AND MAKE IT ALL HAPPEN.
He won’t be able to do it all without any input from you, but once you’ve agreed the key objectives for the 90 days, he’ll be able to shoulder a big chunk of the burden.
Whatever you’ve got on your list, Nick will help you get it ticked off, and imagine how good that will feel.
The next step is a simple one - talk to Nick. Spend 15 minutes on the phone so you can be sure that this is the right step for you, and Nick can be sure that you’re up for the challenge of working with him.
The challenge kicks off on Monday 10th June though, so if you want to be onboard then you’ll need to get that call with Nick scheduled pretty quickly.
I’m excited about seeing the results from this challenge, 90 days is a decent chunk of time, and Nick works fast, so I know that a great deal will be accomplished.
For many business owners reading this, the price will be a surprise. You’d expect to pay more than £1800 just to get a single piece of copy produced by someone with Nick’s experience, and you’re wondering...
WHY IS THE PRICE SO LOW?
The answer is simple: this is the first time we’ve offered this type of service, and I’d like to collect a few case studies from the businesses that Nick works with over the next few months, so we can sell the same service at a more sensible price point in the future.
If you’re interested, I believe that a price of £4000 is fair for what’s on offer here. For now though, a few decisive business owners will be enjoying a steal.
If you’d like to be one of them, simply enter your details below and get that no strings attached call scheduled in with Nick now.
Here’s to ticking off some to-dos.
P.S. You’ll notice there’s no list of over-egged bonuses or ‘fastmover deadlines’ as part of the 90 day challenge. There are 2 reasons for that:
#1. Getting this level of access to someone like Nick for 90 days would normally cost in excess of double the £1800+VAT investment required as part of the challenge.
#2. Places are strictly limited. Nick can turn things round quicker than pretty much any other marketer I know, but since he’s going to be doing all of the work for you himself - not outsourcing it to second rate freelancers - he can only work with a small number of businesses who are serious about getting stuff done.
Remember, the challenge starts on Monday 10th June, so you need to get your call booked in before then. Enter your details below to schedule yours today.
